Birth Support

Personalized support before, during and after childbirth, focused on an empowering birthing experience

At Cradle & Coos, we support families with a comprehensive range of birthing services. This includes helping you find the perfect birth doula, crafting your birth plan, preparing emotionally for childbirth, and organizing logistics like setting up a meal train. During intake, we work with you to identify your specific needs and connect you with the best support, so you can enter birth with confidence.

We’re often asked about the typical cost of a Birth Doula package, which ranges from $2,500 to $3,500 depending on the doula’s experience and expertise. This package offers a full suite of services designed to support you physically, emotionally, and educationally throughout your birthing journey, empowering you with confidence every step of the way.

After an initial consultation, we will shortlist three doulas that align with your preferences. You’ll have the opportunity to interview each one for 30 minutes, helping you choose the doula you connect with most. Together, we’ll select your primary and backup doula, ensuring continuous support during your birth.

Here’s what you can typically expect from our birth doula package:

Complimentary Consultation: Begin with a no-obligation meeting to discuss your birth preferences, ensuring our services align with your vision.

Extensive Initial Intake: A 1-2 hour session covering your medical and mental health history, lifestyle factors, and a personalized plan for nutrition, movement, and stress management. You’ll receive a curated resource list tailored to your needs.

In-Depth Prenatal Visits: Two sessions around the 32nd and 37th weeks of pregnancy (timing may vary) to discuss your birth preferences and address any concerns. Topics include birth and postpartum planning, breastfeeding, and newborn care essentials.

Unlimited Communication: Ongoing phone, text, and email support throughout your pregnancy to encourage open communication and a deeper connection.

Resource Library and Referrals: Access to a library of materials on health, nutrition, and birth, plus referrals to trusted providers like lactation consultants, massage therapists, accupuncture, and sleep consultants.

24/7 On-call Support: Two weeks before your due date, your doula will be on full alert, available 24/7 with a backup doula ready to ensure uninterrupted support.

Continuous Labor and Immediate Postpartum Support: From the start of active labor until you’re settled after birth, your doula will provide continuous physical and emotional support. Techniques like aromatherapy and rebozo ensure a comforting labor experience, followed by guidance for initial feeding and bonding.

Lactation Support Session: Within 24-36 hours post-birth, your doula will help with breastfeeding, covering latch, positioning, and a breastfeeding plan to start confidently.

Postpartum Visit: Within two weeks of birth, we’ll meet to discuss your experience, breastfeeding advice, and newborn care needs, ensuring ongoing support.

Extended Postpartum Communication: You’ll continue to have phone and email access for advice and reassurance as you navigate early parenthood.

At Cradle & Coos, our goal is to provide you with the support and resources you need to enter parenthood confidently and comfortably.
